Unite members call off strike action at Norfolk &
Norwich Hospital
Friday, 2nd November 2007
Unite members have called off a 48 hour
stoppage planned for 5th and 6th November at the Norfolk and
Norwich Hospital following the acceptance of an improved offer from
Serco.
The deal negotiated between Unite and Serco
provides a staged increased in holidays from April 2008 and ensure
employees will have the same annual leave provisions as directly
employed NHS workers by April 2009. The deal also provides a new
pay structure which is backdated to April 2007.
Unite members accepted the revised offer with
over a two to one margin.
Unite Regional Officer, Mark Robinson,
commented:
“The whole package allows our members
to work the same hours as NHS workers, earn very similar salaries
and in a relatively short period, have the same holidays. Whilst it
is not exactly Agenda for Change it provides similar
benefits.
“We are pleased that a deal has been
agreed with Serco in time to avoid the need for a strike. We look
forward to working with Serco to implement the new structures as
soon as possible.”
