Protecting people - campaign to fight the cuts
Local government has been hit hard by the immediate
government cuts; £1.165 billion has been carved out of the 2010-11
central government grant to councils. Unite, alongside the TUC and
leading economists, believes that cutting public spending and
services threatens the fragile economy recovery and risks a double
dip recession. Public spending generates economic growth and
benefits us all – the UK economy need investment not cuts, it’s
time to protect people.
