Over 13,500 people have signed the petition to keep UK rail manufacturing on track, have you?
1,400 workers at Bombardier in Derby could lose their jobs because the government is set to award a contract to build new trains to a rival company, meaning most of the work will be done in Germany.
The government claims to be committed to UK manufacturing but it has dealt a massive blow to Bombardier. The coalition has turned its back on the UK’s last train manufacturer, which now faces an uncertain future.
Unite believes the government has the power to reverse its misguided decision, and award Bombardier the contract to build the new carriages for the Thameslink project. That would be the right decision for the East Midlands, the right decision for UK manufacturing and the right decision for the economy.
Unite is calling on people to support the Unite campaign by signing this petition which calls on the government to reverse its decision, and support UK manufacturing by awarding Bombardier the contract to build the new carriages for the Thameslink project.
Help keep UK rail manufacturing on track and support skilled manufacturing jobs in Derby, sign the petition now.
