Help keep Colart's Wealdstone factory
Colart has manufactured Winsor & Newton art products from
Wealdstone for over 70 years. The company now wants to close the
factory by the end of 2011 and move all its production to
France.
The factory's products have been used by famous artists and
celebrities including HRH Prince of Wales. The site makes an
average of £5.3m pre-tax profit per year.
Why close Wealdstone? Because it's cheaper to sack British
workers!
Management says the factory is too old and can¹t be expanded.
Unite believes Colart could find a new site nearby. But it seems
Colart would rather condemn its loyal workforce to the employment
scrapheap and send their jobs abroad.
