Leek Textile Workers Federation
Leek Textile Workers Federation was formed in
1906 when six silk and cotton unions in the district joined
together. The Federation only lasted until 1919 when the unions in
it amalgamated to form the Amalgamated Society of Textile Workers
& Kindred Trades (ASTWKT).

& Kindred Trades (ASTWKT)
Created in 1919 by an amalgamation of unions
in the textile trades in Staffordshire and South Cheshire the
Amalgamated Society of Textile Workers & Kindred Trades
(ASTWKT) had its headquarters in Leek and in 1982 had a membership
of just under 6,000. The union decided on the simpler Union of
Textile Workers (UTW) title in 1992. The UTW merged with Amicus in
