National Union of Bank Employees
(NUBE)
In 1946 the National Bank Officers’ Guild and

Union of Bank Employees (NUBE). Because of the widening area of
membership the union decided on a name change in 1979, choosing
Banking, Insurance & Finance Union (BIFU)

Banking, Insurance & Finance Union
(BIFU)
Formerly the National Union of Bank Employees
(NUBE) the Banking, Insurance & Finance Union (BIFU) was
responsible for organising staff in financial institutions
throughout the UK. In 1999 the union merged with the Nat/West Staff
Association and Barclays Group Staff Union to form UNIFI.

UNIFI
The name UNiFI was first chosen by the
Barclays Group Staff Union in 1999. When the Banking, Insurance
& Finance Union (BIFU), the NatWest Staff Association (NWSA
then NWSU) and the Barclays Group Staff Union (originally BGSA then
BGSU then UNiFI) decided on a merger shortly afterwards the name
was retained by the new union. UNIFI merged with Amicus in October
2004.

Woolwich Independent Staff Association
(WISA)
In July 2002 the Woolwich Independent Staff
