Electrical, Electronic, Telecommunication and Plumbing Union (EETPU)
In 1968 the Electrical Trades Union (ETU) and the Plumbing Trades Union (PTU) joined forces and formed the Electrical, Electronic, Telecommunication and Plumbing Union (EETPU). It was originally a union for skilled members only but quite soon extended its membership to include any worker employed in the trades covered by its title. In 1992 the union members agreed on an amalgamation with the AEU a decision which created the Amalgamated Engineering & Electrical Union (AEEU).

Electrical Trades Union (ETU)
The Electrical Trades Union (ETU) began its life in 1889 when electrical workers in two small organisations based in Manchester and London agreed to form a new union. The union though small joined the Federation of Engineering & Shipbuilding Trades in 1906 and didn’t really greatly increase its membership until the 1914-1918 war years. In 1968 it joined with the Plumbing Trades Union (PTU) to form the Electrical, Electronic, Telecommunication & Plumbing Union (EETPU).
